I’ve been playing guitar for as long as I can remember. Seriously!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been playing guitar. My dad first put a half-size guitar in my hands when I was just two years old. Both he and my mom were musicians, serving on our church’s worship team, so music was always been around me and filled our home.

It was important to my parents that my four older siblings and I had a well-rounded education, and that included private music lessons. We all started piano no later than age seven, so I was constantly inspired by my older siblings and always striving to reach their level as musicians.

I could play basic open chords on the guitar early on, but when I was nine, I really started teaching myself songs—and that’s when things took off. By age eleven, I began formal guitar lessons to go along with the piano and violin lessons my parents had me in. At thirteen, I started gigging in all kinds of bands, and after graduating high school, I attended Berklee College of Music, where I earned my degree in Guitar Performance. Over the years, I’ve played with artists and bands across a wide range of genres, including classic rock, jazz, pop, country, jazz fusion, film music, and more.

Along with teaching, I’m an active performer throughout the Pacific Northwest. I run JB Entertainment, where I perform as a solo guitarist, in jazz ensembles, and in a high-energy dance band playing classic pop and rock hits. Outside of weddings and corporate events, I also frequently work as a hired guitarist for artists and bands.
